THE KOKOHEAD RAPIDS

Kokohead Rapids soccer club’s mission is to provide training in a learning environment that is fun, challenging, respected, and trusted by all players and parents.

The skills our student-athletes gain will promote character traits that lead to personal development and later life success. These include the evolvement of each individual’s highest level of development; learning the important roles of teamwork; acquiring the discipline for higher success; respect one’s opponent through the acceptance of victory also the acknowledgment of defeat; and the values of fairness and ethical conduct.

Kokohead Rapids will strive to provide both emotional and physical well-being. Kokohead Rapids will provide a collegiate experience to our student-athletes by providing volunteer services to our neighboring communities. 

-Girls, ages 6-16yrs (Juniors) and Keiki’s boys and girls ages 3-5yrs, are welcomed at annual open tryouts usually held during the 1st week in June. Tryouts can be arranged during the year on an individual basis with the team coaches. Club director will be notified of such arrangement. 

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club select players based on physical ability and mental readiness for competitive soccer.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club belong to HYSA (USYSA) and MISO (US CLUB SOCCER).

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club play competitive soccer in both the (MISO Jr.) and in the Oahu League of HYSA. Players have the opportunity to travel extensively for competition on the mainland US and occasionally in Japan. Coaches are encouraged to compete in the President’s Cup, and State Championships during the year.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club has a paid coaching staff and volunteer coaches and administrators.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club will reimburse coaches for education and certification upon full completion.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club will have a director of Coaching to oversee the coaches in the club.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club colors are Navy Blue – Lime Green – Silver and White.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club Uniform colors will be Predominant Navy for 1 set – the other set is white.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club requires all players to use club practice navy shirts, navy shorts, and navy socks at all practices.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club will supply coaches with practice apparel, polo shirts for games, and sweats.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club welcomes any sponsors or donors.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club will not reimburse annual membership fees.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club practice 2-3 times per week and games are on the weekends.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club training is year round, however, training sessions in the summer are primarily for teams preparing to travel to tournaments abroad.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club will encourage players and families to be involved with club based community events during the year.

-Kokohead Rapids Soccer Club reserve the right to dismiss players or families for failure to abide by the Player and Parent code of conduct.

Teams, Practices and Specialized Training

Rosters by age will be:

-U7 & U8 – 10 players

-U10 to U12 – 12 players

-U13 to U19 – 18 players (coaches discretion)

-Practice at Hahaione Elementary Park (Scheduled days discretion of coach)

-Footwork sessions with SOS and Coach Sam at Hahaione

-Speed Training with Kenny Patton @ Hahaione & Kaiser (Depending on Availability of Track)

-Knee Injury Prevention and Strengthening with East Oahu Physical Therapy – (Physical Therapist – Rayna Rowland)

-Shooting sessions with Coach Sam at Hahaione Friday Evenings – Keepers and players

-Prizes to be given out for most goals scored – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place – by age group

-Prizes for keepers over 10 saves

-Keeper training at Hahaione – 2 days a week – 1 with MJ and 1 with Coach Sam

-Some training sessions at Kaiser high school (depending on availability)
